A competency roadmap towards International & European careers
Project Presentation
Every year, hundreds of students in European and international law programmes face the same question: how do you build a career in a world as vast and demanding as the international and European professional sphere? Whether the goal is to join a European institution, work as an international business lawyer, advise a multinational, represent interests before EU bodies, or pursue a path in diplomacy or international negotiation — the pathways are many, and the preparation required is real.
Core Competences for International and European Careers was built to answer that question. Born in 2022 from a concrete need expressed by students at the European School of Law, it is a collection shaped by direct encounters with practitioners from the public and private sectors, and supervised by its pedagogical coordinators, Pierre-Jean Thil and Oana Andreea Macovei.
Rather than cataloguing professions, the collection maps competencies: the academic, behavioural, linguistic, and operational skills that international and European careers actually require — and that professional recruiters look for.
Framework
The collection is developed in partnership with academic and professional institutions committed to training for European and international careers.
